Eligibility for Choice Based Lettings

Under Choice Based Lettings, all social housing vacancies are advertised on a fortnightly basis and housing applicants are invited to bid for properties. The Council no longer allocates properties.

If an applicant may have difficulty taking part in the bidding process or is unsure how to go about this, they should inform the Council and we will arrange to give help and assistance.

Applicants can only bid for a property that has been allocated to the Band that they are in. They are also only able to bid for properties they are eligible for as determined by the Housing Allocations Policy. The Council may visit applicants for housing prior to a nomination for an offer of housing, to verify their circumstances and ensure that an offer of housing is suitable for their needs.
